Here is a post I took this past weekend roaming around Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Being born in Culver City and spending some of my childhood between there and Santa Monica this area has always had a special place in my heart. The buildings, little alleys, and secret nooks of Venice are so amazing there is so much art and life there. Of course there is there is the touristy crap too, the boardwalk, the beach, the homes of the canals ect. ect. ect. Santa Monica itself has changed a bit and too say the least some areas have become bougie and attacked the the "designer lifestyle". But overall there is something really special about the west side of LA. There is so much character, so many different types of people and feeling of the old hippie bohemian culture merging with modern day ideals and things. The west side is the best side ; )

The Kills X Equipment Fall 2013

So I know I am a little late on posting this but I just have to take a minitue to talk about the riduculous amazingness of The Kills for Equipment. I always thought of Equipment as a slightly more conservative brand, sort of the “trendy 30 somthing suburban mom” in the best way possible. NOT ANYMORE! The brand is truly proving that their sleek classic peices can be both conservative and terribly edgy at the same time; what a contradiction and a beautiful one at that! 

The adds featureing probably two of the most talented and insanely amazing musicians in music right now, first appreard for the Spring 2013 colletion, and what do you know looks like its round two for fall. Cleary Equipment can’t quit Jamie and Alison, but who in their right mind could? 

If you haven’t checked The Kills you should probably drop whatever your doing right now and do so. Your ears will thank you. Their show at the Mayan Theather last sits proudly on my top 3 of all time list and I can’t wait to see them again. Swooooooonnnn.

Black Velvet Summer

By the looks of this post you probably would not guess this is LA in August. I have lived in Southern California my whole life, yet I hate summer weather. I would be totally happy with a consistent temperature of about 55 degrees. Summer is just not made for fashion. Layers, coats, boots, and hair do not favor the sweltering LA summer heat. So whats a girl to do who loves both LA and is a slave to style? I end up looking ridiculous all summer long wearing velvet boots and lots of black layers. Then I  start slowing busting out my parkas in the cooler summer nights. Whatever whatever I do what I want.

Beyond the Fields We Know

So here goes my first post. After much procrastination, lots of editing and html coding (yuck) my blog is finally up! This is something I have been working on getting up, off and on for a stupidly long amount of time. It feels good to actually be launching my first post! This is not just a FASHION BLOG, it's a life style blog, but fashion is a huge part of my life soooooooo there will be a lot of that going on too ;). 

I am creating this blog to voice my opinions, thoughts and obsessions, in the world of fashion, styling, music, food (duh) and everything in between that makes up my life! Hopefully I can inspire some others and get them stoked on what I am doing as well! To me fashion is not just clothes. It's not who can wear the most expensive pieces, or the most current runway styles, boring yuck yuck! Fashion is art, like any other medium whether it's painting, ceramics, music, cooking blah blah blah and the list goes on. It's self expression. It's choosing to use yourself as a canvas everyday you walk out of the house. I hope to continue to grow and refine my own sense of style and help others wear their inner selves on the outside as well.
